How it works

We pride ourselves on the bespoke, personal nature of our workshops, adapting to suit the age of our audience. Our themes are aimed primarily at KS1 but we can deliver workshops up to Year 6 modified accordingly. We can provide a workshop in schools, libraries, brownies/rainbows/cubs even at private functions.

  • We provide all materials and use eco-friendly products when we can. All you need to provide are the children!

  • Each workshop is based on one of our button books and begins with an introduction to the topic it covers. Our aim is to provide a tactile and sensory experience; allowing the children to touch and feel the actual buttons from the stories, our watercolour paintbox and the original watercolour illustrations - really bringing the stories to life! With older children, we discuss the journey of these images onto the printed page.

  • We then read our button story, accompanied by a PowerPoint presentation, discussing themes as the stories unfold.

  • We produce a button related craft together, with step-by-step instructions - younger children may need some help from adult supervisors.

  • Finally, we provide downloadable colouring/extension sheets for the children to complete either during or after the session.

  • Each workshop takes a minimum of 45 minutes - with the extension sheets this can be extended to an hour. Again we can adapt this to suit your timetable.
